Tiger Wood's Scandal

I'm sure you all have heard of the Tiger Wood's scandal by now and if you haven't heard of the scandal I'm positive you have heard of him as a golfer.

I am going to give you a summary of what this whole "scandal" is all about. It all started about 2:25 a.m. on Nov. 27th. Tiger crashed his Escalade into a tree and fire hydrant not to far from his home in Florida. As soon as this happened and hit the news, everyone started to wonder why. Many assumed Tiger Woods and his wife were having marriageable problems and he stormed out of the home to get away for the night. After more rumors submerged, there was the one about Tiger having a mistress. Little did we know that there would end up being 7 mistresses and counting! It was also known that his wife Elin Nordegren, a Swedish former super model, had bought a mansion in Sweden. This was then saw as a way to get out and away from her cheating husband.

News reports claim that Tiger Woods was texting one of his mistresses, the first one to start this cheating scandal, just moments before he crashed outside his home. Some of the texts to this alleged mistress came forth and made Tiger look like even a more horrible person. One text even stated, "I know it's brutal on you that you can't be with me all the time." Rachel (1st mistress) texts, "I get it. It kills me too. I finally found someone I connect with", and Tiger concluding with a statement that was sure to hurt his wife, wrote Rachel is "someone I have never found like this. Not even at home."

Tiger's wife comes from parents that divorced and really feels like parents should find a way to stay together for the children. She has not yet decided on if she wants to stay with Tiger or not.

Just recently at a press conference for the PGA Tour, Tiger made an apology speech. Tiger made sure to quote his wife into his speech to save her reputation, although she did not show up for the apology. He defended her by saying how she had never hit or hurt him, such as previous rumors had stated. At the end of the apology he went and hugged his mother which really showed that this was a family matter.

I believe what he did was very wrong, he not only hurt his fans through bad decisions but he hurt the ones he loved the most, his family. I agree that everything he did was uncalled for and one of the worst things he could of done to hurt his wife and kids and their relationship. He now chances getting a divorce and raising the children in separate households. I grew up with my parents divorcing when my sister and I were only 1 and 3. I have always envied others that grew up in the loving home of both the mother and father. While my dad lives in Missouri I don't get to see him often, and growing up I didn't get to have him there at my games, concerts, or academic events like most kids do. It doesn't seem like a big deal but I always wished I had both my mom and dad there to see me and be proud. Knowing this I see how it would be extremely hard for Tiger's wife to choose to stay with him for the kids sake or leave him. I know there would be no way I could stay with someone that did that to me.

In the end I do believe that all the news on this scandal is getting to be a lot. I know he is famous but lets let him have a life too. Leave him be to deal with everything that has happened.

The hustle and bustle about the SUPERBOWL

From the food, jerseys, half-time entertainment, and commercials the Superbowl seems like a national holiday in most homes. I would have to say that my family and I also put effort into making lots of food and munchies and sitting around the T.V. Even if our team isn't playing in the Superbowl, it is kind of a day just to have fun with friends and family.

There is talk of injuries and missed practices of Colt's players. It is said that their star defensive end, Dwight Freeney has missed 3 practices due to a torn ligament in his ankle and Reggie Wayne injured his knee. The Colt's coach said that Wayne has been recovering through his injury during the season and that Freeney has been going through treatment and doing well since he arrived in Florida last week.

As for the Saints, they have had two players also miss practice. Randall Gay missed practice on Friday due to a stomach illness, but is listed as probable to be playing in the Superbowl. Lynell Hamilton is the other play to miss a practice or 2 due to a sore left ankle. He however is listed as questionable to play in the game. And as far as Jeremy Shockey who has been trying to nurse his right knee, he seemed to be involved in all the play at practices. The Saint's coach said that the team heads over to Drago's Restaurant for charboiled oysters, a ritual they do before each home game.

Now lets talk about that half time show... Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will both be playing for half time. As Rock and Roll Hall of Famers they will bring both acoustic performance as well as a little bit of rock. The 2 of them answered questions for reporters on Thursday and also played a little introduction as to what they would be playing and doing at the Superbowl half time. After playing both of them joked how they will be playing for longer than the actual football players. They will be playing for about 12 minutes while statistics have shown that most football games consist of only 11 minutes of actual playing time. The two of them hoped for an entertaining game and not just a boring one, wanting the best team to come out on top.

I really hope it is an entertaing game as well. I love when games are down to the wire and intense. The kind that make you sit at the edge of your seat and at times even stand up yelling at the T.V. We all know that the refs can't hear us yell about a horrible call they make, the players can't hear us complain about how they need to make a catch and hang onto the ball, and the coaches can't hear us discuss what a bad play they chose to run. Although we all know this, we still seem to do it, it goes along with adding excitement and fun to watching the game though. The chips, dips, burgers, snacks, half time shows, and hilarious commercials really make the game worth while.

Haiti Aftermath

On sunday, an official reported the burying of over 150,000 quake victims by the government. As, Yahoo news describes, this number doesn't even begin to say how many have died in this disaster. There are possibly two to three-hundred thousand buried under the debris and rubble still. Also in the article from Yahoo news, they exclaim that the final casualty estimates, which the European Commission said also include some 250,000 injured, will clearly place the Haiti earthquake among the deadliest natural catastrophes of recent times.

It is alleged that a "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon raised 57 million dollars for the cause, with pledges still coming in. A video blog I found on a website shows the after math of Haiti along with the entertainers from the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon performance.

More than 10-thousand Americans have been re-entered into the country, said Megan Mattson, a spokeswoman for the State Department. An estimated 45,000 American citizens were said to have been in Haiti while only 15,000 are accounted for as of now. The ones that were brought back into America were welcomed at an army base outside of Florida. They were given snacks and the chance to make phone calls to their families. Some Haitians were arrested while at the airport for using fake papers, the Associated Press reported Friday. Other than this incident nothing else has been a big problem in this process of returning Americans home.

The Haitian government issued the over 600,000 homeless crowded in open areas to try and find homes and shelter with relatives or others along the countryside. ABC's video shows the great medical need in Haiti. They said many residents were looking for care but there were no doctors, medicines or much aid to be found. Over 300 medical teams from the U.S. are going to be setting up spots for care. They also talk about a public health threat, having to do with the lack of clean food and water. As Haitian's are taking anything they can get, they may be suffering from a disease in the future from these unclean liquids. I really think that what America and other countries are doing to help Haiti is huge. All the people over there that have lost loved ones, homes, food, water and even the stress they undergo, really deserve to get some sort of support. America may be going through a low economy problem right now but we are still one of the most wealthy and fortunate countries. I look on the crisis as the old saying "do onto others as you would want them to do for you." We have no idea if America will ever face more devastation such as 9-11 or mass earthquakes and such. It never hurts to help out others, and hope that if something were to ever go wrong for us they would do the same. Sometimes its even the small things we can do such as teh telethon I had talked about above. Raising over 57 million dollars for just one night of performers and donations coming in is unbelievable to me. To think that such a small amaoung ot our time and money can help to combine and raise that much for others suffering is a great thing to hear and see. Any doctors or nurses that can volunteer their time to help the wounded and ill over there is also another small but gracious thing we can do for Haiti. To me the feeling you get for helping and maybe even saving someone who is ill's life is a feeling unlike any other.
